Making a Healthier World for our Children
in partnership with The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

In the summer of 2009, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, broadcast a challenge to quilters to help promote the important work of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria by creating quilts on the theme, “Making a Healthier World for our Children.” Quilters were invited to create quilts related to this theme and highlighting the challenges in fighting these three pandemics, and to submit them for display at the United Nations in Geneva.
The moving quilts in this exhibition are the result of the response to the challenge and come not just from quilters in the U.S., but also from Canada, Geneva and Sarajevo. To view all 16 quilts and the Global Fund information panels which accompany them, click on “Global Fund Quilts” in the the upper right hand corner.
The exhibit opened at the United Nations European headquarters at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, attracting thousands of visitors. The quilts then toured seven cities in the United States with Mancuso Quilt Festivals in 2010. In July 2012, the quilts will be auctioned online with the proceeds going to support the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. More information on the auction will be posted here soon.
Our deepest appreciation goes out to Mancuso Quilt Festivals, for featuring the exhibition at their seven quilt festivals around the U.S. in 2010 and to Friends of the Fight for their support in making the U.S. tour possible.
